STORYTELLING DIRECTOR
Alladia Patterson
I am a recent graduate of Yale University where I majored in Film and Media Studies with a concentration in media writing. In addition to my past work experience and my area of study, I also have a passion for learning new crafts and perfecting my trade. Since graduation, I have been working as a freelance writer, copy editor, and ghostwriter in addition to teaching as a writing instructor. I also have multiple years of volunteer work and teaching under my belt. I have been a volunteer Track & Field coach for the past 8 years as well as a tutor. I have taught people of all ages and I always love the challenge of working with new students.
I fell in love with stories and storytelling at a very young age. I can never pick favorites, but some stories that have been on my mind lately are The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Good Omens. I like them because they remind me that a sense of humor, a little empathy, and some flexibility go a long way when things don’t go according to plan.
With four years of story-directing experience and over 100 Written Out Loud books on my bookshelf, I can say with utmost confidence that the WOL programs are unique and wonderfully enriching. I have seen storytellers graduate from shy novices to confident authors who take the skills cultivated in our sessions and thrive as they navigate their newfound literary and artistic freedom. There is a very special power that comes from being heard and having a safe space to share ideas; every Written Out Loud storyteller comes to know this power and feel its effects permeating all aspects of their lives in just a few sessions. If you have not experienced Written Out Loud yet, do yourself a favor and enroll. There is a large, enthusiastic community of like-minded creatives waiting to welcome you and your wonderful ideas. Joining the WOLiverse will change your life.
